What is Chlorine Dioxide?

Chlorine dioxide is a biocide sanitizer that is renowned for being the most powerful pathogen killer known to man. It is authorized for use industrially for everything from food and beverage processing to medical and hospitality as a virucide and for parasitic extermination.

It is authorized for external use only. The FDA clearly states that it is unlawful to use chlorine dioxide internally and warns that anyone who does so can leave themselves open to criminal prosecution and imprisonment. And, yes, they have made an example of several people who are currently serving time for doing so.

That said, anything following is not intended as medical advice and is provided for informational purposes only. Chlorine dioxide should never be taken internally, except as clearly defined and per the instructions that accompany chlorine dioxide as a water purifier only.

For the last 60 years, chlorine dioxide has been approved and is regularly used for the purification of questionable surface water, making it safe to drink. As such, chlorine dioxide can be economically obtained as a two-part water purification kit, where one bottle contains a diluted sodium chlorite solution and the other a diluted acid activator, like citric acid, the type of acid that is found in lemons.

How to Use Chlorine Dioxide

As an example, the military, exploratory teams, outdoorsmen, campers, and hikers use chlorine dioxide water purification drops in the field generally in the following manner:

Three drops of Part 1 are mixed with three drops of part 2 in a clean dry glass. The drops are swirled and allowed to activate for 30 seconds, after the drops have turned yellowish in color and you can detect the scent of chlorine by smell, you have effectively created chlorine dioxide which can now be added to one quart of water to be purified for safe drinking.

For specific instructions, follow the details on the bottle’s label as some formulations may vary depending on the manufacturer.

Chlorine dioxide is such an effective method of making water safe to drink that it is used in most water treatment and municipal water distribution facilities. Why not just use chlorine? Because unlike chlorine, chlorine dioxide is 2.5 times more powerful than other methods of sanitization which enables it to kill even the hardest to kill pathogens that would otherwise be unaffected by chlorine.

How Does Chlorine Dioxide Work?

With the same voltage as human cells (.94 volts), chlorine dioxide does not affect healthy human cells or beneficial bacteria, on the other hand it is attracted to harmful bacteria, cells, microorganisms, and parasites like a magnet. When it contacts a virus or otherwise harmful entity, it can either rob or contribute up to five electrons which causes the antilife material to explode.

Chlorine dioxide explodes pathogens

Chlorine operates in the same way but can only subtract two electrons, which does kill most potentially harmful bacteria, while chlorine dioxide is two-and-a-half times more powerful. That’s what enables it to kill the most dangerous and treatment-resistant pathogens.

Other sanitizers have a higher voltage which enables them to kill cells, but they are less discrete and may take out beneficial cells in a less elegant fashion of elimination, which also leaves behind carcinogenic material, while less reckless chlorine dioxide does not.

What is Chlorine Dioxide Solution or CDS 3000?

Chlorine Dioxide Solution or CDS 3000 is a chlorine dioxide solution that does not require the two-part mixing process. It is created by the distillation process and it is reported that it has a better taste than the chlorine dioxide made by the more primitive two-part method.

The 3000 in CDS 3000 stands for the 3,000 parts per million concentration provided by the distillation process.

Note: it requires 8 times the CDS 3000 to equal the two-part equivalent. Therefore, if you would use three drops of the two-part chlorine dioxide water purification drops to purify one quart of water for drinking, you would use 24 drops of CDS 3000 in comparison.

Daily Chlorine Dioxide Purified Water Treatment

Some people regularly add three activated drops to one to two liters of water and drink it throughout the day. Chlorine dioxide not only kills whatever negative contaminants might be in the water but also neutralizes heavy metals that may be present. The one to two liters of water are consumed regularly throughout the day. This is considered regular maintenance.

For older water drinkers, there is a belief that increasing the number of daily drops to 15 may offer anti-aging properties to the purified drinking water.

Antioxidants

Chlorine dioxide and antioxidants don’t mix well. CD kills pathogens via an oxidative process, therefor taking Vitamin C or other antioxidants with chlorine dioxide or CDS 3000 will cancel out its pathogen-killing properties. After 30 minutes, chlorine dioxide breaks down to a simple saline solution (salt) and then an antioxidant can be taken, but since it can take up to two hours for Vitamin C or other antioxidants to breakdown, it is suggested that you wait for 2 hours before taking another CD dose to maintain the full efficacy.

If you do not wait, there is no problem to be suffered, only that serving of chlorine dioxide-purified water may not be as effective, which is no hindrance, so most people just continue to drink from their one to two-liter bottles regularly throughout the day, only noting that antioxidants should be taken one-half hour after drinking CD purified water, and not taken with CD purified water.

Bathing in CD Purified Water

Want to take a bath in chlorine dioxide-purified water? It’s a thing. Simply mix up 40 to 60 drops of Part 1 and Part 2, wait for a minute for them to activate, and swirl them into your bathwater. Wait another minute for the CD to neutralize toxins and heavy metals in the water and get it and soak away.

Just make sure the bathtub is clean and free from any soaps or trance chemicals before adding bathwater to be treated with chlorine dioxide.
