Chlorine Dioxide MMS and the Herxheimer Reaction to Detoxify

What people think are chlorine dioxide or MMS side effects are Herxheimer reactions. According to Jim Humble’s original chlorine dioxide protocols, higher doses per hour were ramped up much faster than we do nowadays. This resulted in nausea, vomiting, and/or diarrhea in some cases. According to critics of MMS, Herxheimer reactions are the body’s response to chlorine dioxide poisoning, caused by ramping up too quickly.

According to the study by Judith R. Lubbers and colleagues, when healthy individuals were given chlorine dioxide at increasing concentrations, no adverse effects were observed.

The Herxheimer reaction, also known as Jarisch-Herxheimer reaction, is a frequently experienced detoxification response triggered by the release of excess toxins during a treatment for pathogens. This can occur while dealing with infections such as bacteria, parasites, or candida and during toxin removal processes. In the midst of a Herxheimer reaction, the body becomes overwhelmed with an excessive amount of toxins in the circulation. This puts significant strain on internal organs, particularly the colon, liver, and kidneys which play crucial roles in filtering these toxins from the body.

A Herxheimer reaction is a possible indication of an excessive number of pathogens or toxins in the patient’s system. When someone using chlorine dioxide has a significant number of invaders, their prompt elimination can result in an excess of toxins circulating in the blood. These substances are what the body aims to remove quickly. Those with illnesses may have compromised Methylation Cycles, hindering their ability to eliminate toxins and making it even more challenging to handle a sudden influx of them.

The Jarisch-Herxheimer reaction or the Jarisch-Herxheimer breakout is an indication of the healing crisis due to an overly aggressive die-off reaction of bacteria, parasites, and candida. Therefore, taking things “low and slow” is advisable.

The following conditions commonly trigger a Herxheimer reaction:

  • Pathogens such as Lyme disease, syphilis, bacterial infections, parasite infections, fungal infections, yeast infections, and candida overgrowth among others.
  • Heavy metal toxicity removal.
  • Any condition requiring the liver to be cleansed.
  • Herxheimer reaction-causing drugs.
  • The use of antibiotics and antifungal drugs.
  • Herxheimer reaction-causing natural ingredients.
  • Foods containing probiotics and fermented cultures, coconut oil, essential oils, raw garlic, spices, colloidal silver, diatomaceous earth, MMS, and systemic enzymes.

Is it necessary to feel bad in order to feel good?

We want to detoxify the body, but not stress it further. We need to stay just beneath a Herxheimer reaction while detoxing.

A healing crisis or Herxheimer reaction can happen when the amount of endotoxins released by dying bacteria, parasites, candida, or other pathogens exceeds the body’s safe limit. This may lead to a worsening of current symptoms and the addition of new ones. While a herxheimer reaction can indicate that pathogens are being eliminated, it can also be a sign that the treatment is too intense. In severe cases, it may be necessary to stop the treatment due to discomfort caused by the herxheimer reaction.

This can cause a lot of stress on internal organs, especially the colon, liver, and kidneys, which are responsible for filtering toxins.

Having worked with candida, parasites, heavy metal toxicity, liver cleanses and other body detox plans, we have found that most of the cases can be avoided or minimized without a healing crisis. In order to minimize the discomforts and risks associated with Herxheimer reaction, we hope that this information will help you feel better, without making you feel worse.

Herxheimer’s reaction prevention

Through normal bowel movements, the colon is responsible for removing toxins from the body. When treating any condition that involves the removal of pathogens or toxins from the body, the most important step is to cleanse your colon so it can eliminate the high levels of toxins released during treatment.

There are many people who experience healing crises and Herxheimer reactions during treatment because the body takes too long to eliminate the released toxins. This critical step is often overlooked.

In our work, we have seen that the longer these released toxins remain in the body, the more severe the Herxheimer reaction symptoms become.

The symptoms of a Herxheimer reaction can last anywhere from a few hours up to a few days, and most people feel relief within 24 hours.

Herxheimer reactions can take many forms, including:

  • A rash on the skin, a breakout on the skin, acne, and itchy skin.
  • Hives.
  • Feeling nauseated.
  • Having a stomachache.
  • Mucus in stool, increased mucus production.
  • An infection of the sinuses.
  • Feels like chills.
  • Fatigue.
  • Feeling dizzy.
  • Sore throat, swollen lymph nodes, swollen glands.
  • Anxiety.
  • A feeling of malaise, general illness, and a high level of discomfort.
  • The fever.
  • Flashes of heat or cold.
  • Sweating excessively at night.
  • An elevated or racing heartbeat, chest pain.
  • Pain in the joints and muscles, body aches.
  • Brain fogginess.
  • Having a headache.
  • Diarrhea or constipation.
  • Bloating, gas, abdominal pain, and digestive issues.

Please suspend the remaining chlorine dioxide doses for the remainder of the day if any of these symptoms occur. Usually, the number of doses given the day before the Herxheimer reaction should be returned the following day when the patient is stable. The treatment should not be stopped, but should be lowered to the dose that did not cause the Herxheimer reaction.

You can mitigate the Herxheimer reaction to chlorine dioxide by giving vitamin C or orange juice, as either of these will reduce the effects of chlorine dioxide or MMS immediately. You may want to consider using activated charcoal, bentonite clay, or burbur (a liquid detox extract) to help bind excess toxins. However, be aware that both of these can cause constipation.

Treatments for Herxheimer reactions typically include:

  • Enhance the body’s ability to eliminate toxins.
  • Relieve existing discomforts and symptoms.
  • In cases of severe Herxheimer reactions, reduce treatment intensity.
  • A colon cleanse can help your body remove dead toxins if you already have a Herxheimer reaction.
